Asuncion is considered as an agricultural town. It envelops a total of 41, 152 hectares. Of this total land
area, 56,04% is agricultural, 29.45% forested, 12.24% brush/open locale, 1.35% creeks and rivers and 0.92% built-up.
Its upland areas are planted with fruit trees such as mango, coconut and durians inter-cropped with cacao,
coffee, lemonsito and other staple crops.
Banana happens to be one of the major agricultural products. At present three (3) leading banana plantations,
namely AMS Farming Corporation, SFC and BANHEX, reaped thousands of kilos of exportable quality bananas every year.
Citrus or Calamansi also known to be productive in Asuncion. In fact, the LGU strongly supported the Rural
Improvement Club (RIC) for the processing of Calamansi concentrate. Mayor Monteroso has initially allocated an amount for
the construction/establishment of a Calamansi processing plant which is now about to be completed. It is envisioned that in
the near future, Asuncion will be the major source of export quality calamansi concentrate.
